Blackberry Mountain: Anna’s View

A quick getaway to Blackberry Mountain, Blackberry Farm’s cool new cousin, brought me back to my days at Camp. Located in the smoky mountains of Tennessee, Blackberry Mountain is nothing more than a luxurious camp for adults, offering endless activities from hiking to cooking to sound bathing (more on that later). As a member of the Relais & Chateaux collection, B M’s two restaurants offer mouth-watering, healthy dishes that can easily accommodate any dietary restrictions. The food was easily one of my favorite parts of the trip.

I recommend staying at the Watchman cabins! Located a short 10- minute drive to the top of the mountain, these cabins are more secluded with better views than the accommodations on the other two, lower levels of Blackberry Mountain. Adjacent to the cabins are the Firetower restaurant and the cozy library. With three out of four walls being windows, Firetower offers wide-open views of the valley below. Being just a few steps away from our cabin, it was the perfect spot for breakfast.

We didn’t skip a beat during our visit. Saying we stayed active would be an understatement. In the morning, we took advantage of the free classes being offered which ranged from a HIIT class, vinyasa flow, spinning and more. These workouts would usually be accompanied by a hike, whether back up to our cabin or to see Leo – a huge art sculpture designed by Thomas Dambo.

Of course, enjoying some R&R is a must while on vacation. We took full advantage of the spa and even tried something new: sound bathing. Not your typical form of meditation, sound bathing uses the waves and vibration of sound to calm your body while you relax in the cocoon of a silk hammock.

A few of our other favorite activities included rock climbing, enjoying a cooking demo, and trying aerial yoga. While I’ve only highlighted a few of our favorites, there are endless activities to choose from, which gives me a good reason to return again soon.
